This is to record my settings to get APRS working on my Baofeng HT without a TNC, following the instructions on https://www.instructables.com/APRS-and-the-UV-5R/ with some minor tweaks to make it work with my own devices. Winlink Global Radio Email is " is a network of amateur radio and authorized government-licensed stations that provides worldwide radio email using radio pathways where the internet is not present. " There are a lot of resources available on it's official website https://winlink.org/. The goal of the exercise here is to use the devices available in hands to try out this Global Radio Email system and figure out a way to make it work (by 'work', it means that I can send and receive emails successfully through packet radio). As a new HAM, I wanted to start with something cheap and easy (maybe? maybe not?) so that I can keep exploring while I am learning and build up my knowledge/experiences/skills as I progress. APRS is something came to me that fits this perfectly. APRS stands for Automatic Packet Reporting System which is a great system to share tactical position data (and many more) using amateur radios.
